 Currency notes in circulation are in denomination of Rs. 5000, 1000, 500, 100, 50,20

Coins Rs. 10,5,2,1 and cents 50, 25

 

Costs and prices:

  • A plate of Sri Lankan food, some rice and curry and a soft drink at an average small restaurant  RS:250- 400
  • A plate of western-style food and a soft drink in tourist-orientated restaurant RS: 1500-4000
  • Meal for 2 at a high-quality Sri Lankan restaurant RS: 2500-5000
  • Regular pizza in Pizza restaurant RS: 1500-3000
  • McMeal at cafes (or Equivalent Combo Meal) RS: 750-1250
  • Domestric beer (0.5 liter drought) RS: 300-450
  • Imported Beer (0.33 liter bottle) RS: 450- 800
  • 1 liter of bottled water from a store RS 75- 100
  • Cappuccino (regular) RS: 350-450
